Håkan Hellström has been a major contributor to Swedish music for more than 20 years. During the 90´s as a part of genre defining bands as Broder Daniel and Honey is Cool. As a solo artist his debut ”Känn ingen sorg för mig Göteborg” was released 2000, and it exploded and challenged the perception on how Swedish pop should look, feel and sound. Since then he has released 8 additional albums growing into one of Swedens most successful artists.
On June 7th 2014 Hellström made Swedish music history when he entered the stage at a packed Ullevi Arena in his hometown of Gothenburg. With 69.349 people in the audience it was the biggest show ever put on in Sweden. This historical occasion was recorded and is now available through Woah Dad! on Håkan Boma Ye! A 4LP box-set.
It was not long before he broke the record himself, twice. 4th of June 2016 Håkan Hellström entered the stage at Ullevi once again with 70 091 people in the crowd and already the next day 70 144 people showed up.
His latest album ”Du gamla du fria” was released last summer 2016 and reached out to our hearts. This summer 2017 he’s getting back out on the road again for a summer tour and one of the stops will once again be at Ullevi Arena.
In April 2017 Håkan Hellström will get his own ”Klubbland” at Liseberg in Gothenburg. The doors to ”Klubbland” was opened just for fans some days before the official premiere.
Isse Samie from Woah Dad! about the exhibition: “It is a journey from Håkan’s birth until today. It has produced very much material for the exhibition; movies, guitars and clothes. Text and interactive details like karaoke and selfie stalls have also been developed.”
Except the fact that Håkan Hellström now these days has won many swedish hearts, he has been nominated and won a lot of prizes. He has scooped several ”Rockbjörnar”, ”Grammis” and also won the award as ”Årets Göteborgare”.
